Description
Mixing (or diverting) control valves are primarily constructed for use in heating systems, but are also used in industrial applications where pressure, temperature and chemical characteristics of the fluid allow this.
Depending on the model and type of installation, the valves can either divert a flow between two outlets or mix two fluids, in varying proportions depending on the proportions of the fluid.
Depending on the model and type of installation, the valves can divert a flow between two outlets or mix two fluids, in varying proportions depending on the position assumed by the sector or the rotor in its 90° angular stroke.
Mixing valves can be controlled manually by means of a lever with index and graduated scale, or automatically by coupling with a servomotor.
The mixing valves allow:
- to keep the water in the boiler at a constant high temperature, which is important for increasing the lifetime of biomass generators, for example.
- to regulate the hot water at a constant temperature, which is useful for controlling fix-point systems (e.g. underfloor systems).
- to realise, with an R4500 electronic climate regulator with probes, the most rational and economical automatic regulation possible
The correct sizing of the mixing or diverter valves is essential for their correct operation:
- a valve that is too large cannot provide effective regulation as it produces large variations in flow rate and therefore temperature with small movements
- a too small valve determinates large pressure drops. In addition, high flow velocities can be created inside the valve, which is detrimental to the integrity of the passageways.
